First Time Users

Welcome! Thanks for thinking of the Foundry! We hope you enjoy your time spend in the building and with our community. We have a couple pointers for you as you look to book spaces with us, but you have at least one requirement — you have to take our Online Orientation. It’ll take you about 15 minutes, and show you around our spaces. It will likely address any questions you have, but it will make your experience better.

A few other items:

  • Space reservations are not guaranteed until you have seen a response from us. We have many events, classes, and users vying for our spaces and sometimes we cannot accept a reservation. If we cannot we’ll get back to you ASAP to confirm things. You should expect a reply within 4 business days of making your reservation.

  • While in our spaces you are welcome to use the tools, tech, and materials within reason. Our Scouts have final say in what you can and cannot do, but generally please come make that cool prototype!

  • Most of our spaces have tech available, please feel free to use it, and if you have questions please ask a Scout.

  • We are happy to accommodate classes, clubs, or other groups from any BOW school. If you have particular needs, please reach out to us directly and we’ll see what we can do!

  • We do not have a cleaning crew. YOU are responsible for picking up, resetting tables, and otherwise making the space ready for the next group.

Thanks!

Teaching at the Foundry?

Welcome to the Foundry! We hope you have a fantastic time teaching in our spaces! We often find that we have two types of instructors at the Foundry, those who are scheduled classes, and those who would like to volunteer to teach something specific. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out this form and one of the team members will get back to you ASAP. If you’re scheduled to teach here, please read on!

As someone teaching at the Foundry we can offer you lots of help, depending on your class and needs. In some cases that might just be the space, tools, or materials to try something new; but we may also be able to provide Scout assistance, one off classes in Prototyping or one of the tools we have, or even ongoing consultation with your students (or yourself) about their project. Whatever your needs, we can work something out that will help lighten the teaching load!

If you’re a Faculty member looking to teach your class in the Foundry, have a Foundry Team come to your class and teach some skill, or just want to learn more about teaching at the Foundry, please reach out to the Director and we can talk about what that might look like and how we can best help you! If you are just interested in the space, you are welcome to book a time using the links above, but know that we can make some special accommodations for Faculty/Staff, including bookings outside our normal operating hours, if needed.
